How is the travel industry coping?

It is finally Friday night, and people go out for an after-hours drink or dinner, suitable for restaurants after the pandemic lockdowns. Folks travel again, as almost all restrictions are removed. But not all worries are over.

The war in Ukraine brought new headaches for the tourist industry. Russians can't cross the border to Finland. The increased fuel cost limits the middle class from hitting the road or going out. Asian clients are still staying at home.

Hotel owners are afraid of the consequences if the crisis ruins everything that was built with hard work for decades. The cost of heating the premises is higher than ever. Cashflow problems can be disastrous.

What else would they have to look forward to? After many years of ups and downs, it takes a genius to run the business; to make a decent profit.

The owner opened her eyes and looked at her business report, her partner and husband couldn't take it anymore. Make a phone call and go talk to the banker face to face to get an honest answer.

"I need a bank loan to survive and manage until the multiple stream of crisis is over."

“Yeah, that. Lots of that. We are basically good people, aren't we?”

She nodded in relief. “Yeah, for sure. And what are you going to do?”

“Wicked!”
