When this over

Europe has changed a lot since the second world war; during my lifetime. Still, we think that the old continent has stagnated and is unable to innovate.

Yet, Europe is an innovative society. This continent is not as trigger-happy as the Americans. But we're getting older, that's a fact and creates problems.

Are we going to witness the spring of Northern Africa this year?

What could be the role of EU in the transformation of Africa to a more democratic and prosperous continent?

Digital Communication

In the early 90'2 the Digital communication was in its infancy. We were workin Europe. Our location was Alsace. We had a hous in a small village close to Colmar, in Alsace. It was a strategically interesting place. It was close to:
  1. Germany
  2. Switzerland
  3. Luxemburg
  4. Belgium
We used to travel through Denemark and Sweden several times in the year. Sometimes we returned through Poland and ex. DDR. Big changes happened during that time in Europe. The former communist states were taking their first steps towards market economy

What happens to Web 2.0 companies?

Web 2.0 entrepreneurs can and do start companies for relatively small sums compared to the tens of millions doled out during the dot-com boom days.

Analysts think that the crashes won't hurt as many. This is a boom that doesn't have a big impact in Europe. The European Web 2.0 scene is silent. Skype has already moved over to the eBay area.

Finnish companies are too concentrated around everything mobile, so the Web 2.0 bubble talk doesn't have any bearing here. We're using Web 2.0 applications to add productivity and reach of our knowledge work. Web 2.0 has made our life easier. We can do more with less time. We can reach more people on a global scale with much less effort. The time-shift effect does have some meaning for us.
