I got this news today. It looks like Know More Media is about to shut down. The last posting was from November 21, 2008. What happened?

SouthAsiaBiz - Doing business in South Asia: "End of Know More Media: For the Time Being
Mehdi Hassan July 31, 2008 | Know More: blogging

First of all, like other fellow Know More Media bloggers, I am also very upset that Know More Media is shutting down. I am one of those few fortunate people who, in the beginning of his career, got the opportunity to work with such a great blog network. I really enjoyed my time here. Know More Media was a very good network and it is people like Dan Smith, Easton Ellsworth, Kimberlee Morrison, who made Know More Media a great network. I became very upset when I first got the mail from Dan Smith. Know More Media is my first job as a full time blogger and I enjoyed it very much.

I wish Dan, Kimberlee, Easton, and all the fellow bloggers of Know More Media, best of luck.

I am not quitting blogging. In fact, I will be posting in this blog (SouthAsiaBiz) on an irregular basis. I have joined in another blog related South Asia. Its url is:

So, visit me there for updates about South Asia."

I've to get a personal comment from the writers. Our friendship started this Visual Radio blog. What happened? Razib Ahmed writes about it below:

I hope that you already know that Know More Media is going out of business from tomorrow. I have been in Know More Media since 22 March 2006. So, it is 28 months. Yes, I have written entries for that time here. I have received generous compensation and even more generous support from the owners of Know More Media and the publishing team. I like to pay my tribute to Dan Smith, General Manager of Know More Media.

FOXNews.com - Indian Outsourcing Firms Hit Hard by Internet Outage - Science News | Science & Technology | Technology News

FOXNews.com - Indian Outsourcing Firms Hit Hard by Internet Outage - Science News | Science & Technology | Technology News: "NEW DELHI — India's lucrative outsourcing industry struggled Thursday to overcome Internet slowdowns and outages after cuts in two undersea cables sliced the country's bandwidth in half.

The disruption — which has hit a swath of users from Egypt to Bangladesh — began to affect much of the Middle East on Wednesday, when outages caused a slowdown in traffic on Dubai's stock exchange.

Such large-scale disruptions are rare but not unknown. East Asia suffered nearly two months of outages and slow service after an earthquake damaged undersea cables near Taiwan in December 2006.

The cables, which lie off the coast of Egypt in the Mediterranean, were snapped as the working day was ending in India on Wednesday and the impact was not immediately apparent.

But by Thursday, the Internet was sluggish across the country with some users unable to connect at all and others frustrated by spotty service. The Internet Service Providers' Association of India said the country had lost half its bandwidth."

Bangladesh and Finland

I'm doing channel arrangements on my blogs. This blog has been published on a Finnsih language platform. My intention is to profile my blogs to cover specific areas. The channel arrangement should give each blog a more distinctive focus.

About Me: Hello from Asia
by risingasia @ 27.05.2006 - 16:35:12

Hello all, I am not from Finland and not even from Europe. I am from Bangladesh, a green country of South Asia. My participation in this blog network is perhaps another example of the fact that Internet has turned the world really into a global village.

By chance, I visited the blog, VISUAL RADIO and I liked the blog and my team mate wrote a review of this blog. And then, Helge Keitel invited me to open a blog here.

I must say that I am impressed with your community and most of all, I am happy to know see a new world here. I do not know Finnis language at all but I can see that some of you post entries in English and you can know about Asia here.

I have three blogs:
http://www.southasiabiz.com/
is about South Asian Business and it is a part of Know More Media blogging network

http://asianbiz.blogspot.com/
is my personal blog and here I write about East Asian economy.

I also write reviews of the blogs that I like and now I am giving a lot of attention to World Cup football.

http://write-translate.blogspot.com/
is my personal blog about Bangla (Bengali) literature.

I am trying to create content about Bangla literature in English language so that others can know about my literature.

In the coming days, I will mainly write about Asia as I am passionate about this field.

Best regards,
Razib Ahmed
