Get out and grab the market
For about a minute, a month, maybe a year, it struck me what to do. There's a one way route out of this rural town, in the middle of nowhere.
We had to hit global or there was no chance of survival. North America was the biggest single market, we need to conquer Japan, Europe, Oceania, South America and Russia.
We'd to tear down some mental and physical walls. The contract with the North-American distributor was one of our biggest obstacles.
We couldn't win internationally without market leadership in USA and Canada.
This move took us to court, the The Arbitrary Tribunal judges struck a good deal, we got it our way.
The road was open, but we'd to move fast, make vise decisions and the right people doing what they can do best.
It was action oriented, we'd to straighten the bends straight and there was not enough time for detailed planning.
A number of things could have been done better with a proper business plan. More thought should have been given to financial planning. The burning rate was quite rapid during first couple of months. Crisis hit the start-up.
We weren't prepared. Nevertheless, things worked out. There were technical problems and organizational issues. Some requirements didn't work out.
Today, we have a success story.
