What could the Future Store learn from the past?

What on earth could be we learn from the history of shopping?

I’ve a feeling that we’re trying to find answers from a very clouded future when there are plenty of good answers available in the history of sales, marketing and shopping.

Today’s stores are clinical, clean and boring. Every store tries to create a spotless image. But at the same time the “experience of finding” is moved further and further away.

The clean and tidy seven eleven or K-Mart isn’t interesting anymore. The consumer wants to find something new and unexpected.  Are the store owners really providing that possibility? My answer is: No!
