Dell IT

Dell opened on May 21, 2006, in Texas and New York state. The move is necessary to defend against Apple and Best Buy. Gartner thinks Dell needs to go beyond PCs, TVs, and printers to deliver digital experiences and breakthrough products, not just value-priced boxes, to give consumers a reason to stop in to its stores and look.

  • computers are becoming commodities
  • like refrigerators and dishwashers

The shopping experience and service has to be improved. Dell started to sell their product line over Internet, now they are getting into retail as well. The move is from modern to traditional, but I can very well understand it. New tech gadgets are chosen based on looks and feeling. Apple is the gadgetry design leader. Best Buy is low-cost.

Dell is now taking the Asian market very seriously- especially, India and China. It is really interesting that Dell has not even announced the location of its
plant in India but it has
announced
that it will start producing PC from India by the end of 2006.
